Surfer Girl’s 2008 Fashion Icon Awards
This New Years Eve 2009, Surfer Girl held a special party called “Surfer Girl’s 2008 Fashion Icon Award!” This is an annual award featuring a walk out by Surfer Girl’s top live mannequins of the year. This year, Surfer Girl had 12 million rupiah in prizes to be handed out to three very special Fashion Icon’s of 2008… one for each model with the most similar style to Summer, Niki and Grinder!
Jl. Legian and most of the Kuta strip was closed off to vehicles for New Years Eve, so the crowd was on foot, and it was feeling a like a real festival evening. The party started around sunset with DJ Schumi setting the mood, and free flow drinks and canapés for all. The model’s hadn’t even made their entrance, but already there were surprise “Happy Hour Shopping” when we passed out special New Years goodie bags to some lucky shoppers at the Surfer Girl shop. Later in the evening Surfer Girl even put on a “Crazy Dance Competition” and brought the audience onto the catwalk to show their stuff. the crowd cheered them on and the dancers had a great time, and even received special Surfer Girl goodie bags to take home
The party evolved into a contemporary dance collaboration with a live band in front of the shop. The music was incredible, there was traditional Balinese music merging with modern beats… and this set the exotic entry for 2008’s top live mannequin models, who all appeared decked out in Surfer Girl’s latest collection, Kaleidoscope Island. All in all there were 10 models competing: Engga, Susan, Ayu Desi, Tara, Verina, Putri, Livana, Widya, Irena and Erika
The party got hot as the models strolled down the catwalk and fire dancers thrilled the audience. It was a tight competition, and all the models did their best. But it was finally time to announce Surfer Girl’s 2008 Fashion Icon Award winners! And the models with the most Summer free style, Niki fashion flare and Grinder like groove are:
Widya – Summer Fashion Icon
Ayu Desi – Niki Fashion Icon
Erika – Grinder Fashion Icon
From all the models, only three are Surfer Girl Fashion Icons, but there are also some special Surfer Girl favorites: Verina was our most favorite, Engga was the most girly, Livana ¬and Susan were the cutest, Irena was the funkiest, Ayu Desi was the best genic model, Putri was the catwalk queen, and Tara was the first alumni model.
